David Hockney inspired assignment #1

http://carlateneyck.com/personal/david-hockney-ophelia-critiquing-paintings.html

Description: In this photo i see a woman that is upset about something and she's thinking very deeply. The colors of the plants are bright, but the water she is lying in is a darker blue, which seems to represent her emotion.

Analysis: The color is used strongly by the artist to get his point through. The contrast between the bright and dark colors makes me think deeper about her mood. There is emphasis on her bright face in the dark water showing that she is the subject of the painting and not the plants.

Interpretation: In this photo i see a young woman who is contemplating living or dying. Taking the easy way out or fighting in the world. She is uncertain of what her next move will be so she just lies there waiting for an answer, hoping. I think the title does in fact work. it's simple and leaves room for the imagination to work.

Judgement: I think other people should see this work because it's beautiful and anybody can relate to the time they were in a hard place or just felt empty or had trouble making a choice and i believe this is what this photo represents.

This photo was edited in photoshop and i used color match to match the colors in this picture to the Ophelia painting.
